Acas statement on BCC research on mental health

Wednesday 08 August 2018

A survey by the British Chambers of Commerce has revealed that almost 30% of businesses have seen an increase in the number of staff taking time off for mental health reasons. Acas' statement is included below.

Acas Chair, Sir Brendan Barber, said

"A positive mental health work environment can benefit employee wellbeing and productivity. Acas has produced a new framework for positive mental health at work, which outlines the roles that employers, managers and their staff can play to help make it happen.

"Our advice includes suggestions such as employers leading on a wellbeing strategy at work; managers having the confidence and knowledge in managing mental health; and workers identifying personal stress triggers and supporting colleagues."
